Added Sugar Limits

Sugar is a substance that many of us enjoy, but its excessive consumption can lead to a variety of health issues. Unfortunately, it can be difficult to avoid sugar in today’s world, as it seems to be added to nearly every food and drink. Added sugars are found in common foods like cakes, cookies, candy, ice cream, sugary drinks, and processed foods. In the below image, I share the recommended added sugar limits for people of different genders and ages.

Many people are unaware that added sugars are also added to bread, salad dressing, yogurt, cereals, gummy vitamins and so much more.

It is no secret that excessive sugar consumption has been linked to:

  • Acne
  • ADHD
  • Aggressive behavior
  • Diabetes type II
  • Depression
  • Fatty liver disease
  • Gut dysbiosis
  • Heart disease
  • Leaky gut
  • Obesity
  • AND MUCH MUCH MORE

Key nutrients depleted from the body as a result of excessive sugar consumption include:

  • Calcium
  • Chromium
  • Magnesium
  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin D

Kids under age 2 should not have any added sugar in their diet.

There is no harm in an occasional treat but it is important to regularly limit the amount of Added Sugar in one’s diet. Always read food labels and choose products with the least amount of sugar per serving.

Please keep in mind, a toddler should not have the same limit as a teen so use discretion and common sense when using this guide.

Minimizing sugar is the first step to a stronger immune system and possibly some relief to many chronic illnesses.

Added sugar is not the same is natural sugar from fresh fruit.
